I was born in The Hague and now live in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I grew up between Dutch and Curaçaoan family.
The contrast between my colorful canvases and my clean black on white paintings reflects the diversity within me. I’m drawn to contradiction. Bustle, chaos and depth, while also needing calm, order and clarity.
To me, artists are here to serve other people. We make art, share it, and people’s lives actually get influenced by it. This goes for music, writing, film, paintings, clothing, performance. Every art form. It changes the way people move through life, the decisions they make, the opinions they form. Life changing decisions can be influenced by art. Even unconsciously. Artists are the blueprint of a lot of directions people choose in life.
We move people. That’s how I see my purpose.
